TOPIC: Looking For Some Advice - Business Legal Forms and Templates?

Looking For Some Advice - Business Legal Forms and Templates? 10 months, 1 week ago #1532

Hi fellow Business Biscotti peoples,

We have standard terms and conditions and some templates for non-disclosure and basic contracts but I have two questions I am hoping the group will be able to assist me with as I am not sure about the ones we are using.

1. What legal documents would you recommend a business have as a minimum? (Of course understand that all businesses are different)

2. What web sites have good templates or what legal services would be cost effective? (Basically where can I get quality legal templates from?)

Looking forward to your answers and thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Tony.

Hi Tony

I'm new to Biscotti and have just seen your post although note that you posted this a while ago. I'm a commercial solicitor (I've just posted a new topic which gives a bit of detail about my firm - Excello Law. We are a virtual law firm and can provide really cost effective advice for clients).

In answer to your question it does of course depend on the nature of your business but you should as a minimum have the following:

1. Standard form of confidentiality agreement (both unilateral and mutual)
2. Standard Terms and Conditions of Business i.e. the terms that apply between you and your customers.
3. Standard Terms and Conditions of Purchase i.e. the terms that apply between you and your suppliers.
4. If you have a website then your site will need standard terms and conditions of use and a privacy policy.

The form these take will very much depend on the nature of your business and I wouldn't recommend just purchasing these "off the shelf" from a website as they will need to be tailored to reflect your particular business. If you'd like to discuss this then let me know.
