Presented by: Danny Williams, Director, SafeGuard-602 (Data Protection) Services Limited

Meeting: Thursday, 28th February 2019 from: 7.30am - 9.30am

Venue: Malmaison - 18 -20 Station Road,  Reading, RG1 1JX

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION:

What is the optimal balance between Ease of Use and Cyber Security? This is a core question often raised in conversations between Business leaders and cybersecurity professionals as both are key demands that run in parallel, and sometimes even contradict one another.

On the one hand, you want simple access to systems and applications (Users lose productivity when there’s friction added to the login process). On the other hand, both internal and external threats are on the rise (according to the UK Government in 2018; The average cost of a data breach to medium sized UK businesses was £12,100).

Passwords are your first line of defence when it comes to data protection, so STUFF ‘em. This entertaining and informative presentation explains why (and HOW) you can have Ease of Use passwords without compromising on Cyber Security.

  • Verizon’s recent Data Breach Report showed that 81% of hacking-related breaches used either stolen or weak passwords. And, a new survey from Dark Reading shows 44% of organisations say users pose the greatest threat to data security!...”
